1. Budgeting: When my wife and I were married I had never known anyone to be so content with what they had like my wife. She had a rolling pin she used often and when I bought her an electric mixer she didn't really want it but I convinced her it would help her so she could other things while it was mixing. My point is that my wife was content to use what she had available and if I would have been like her I would have had a nice savings. Some things were very practical and other things I did not need. I was not a saver I was a spender. So now the Lord is humbling me and teaching me how to live on a budget for His glory.
1 Corinthians 4:2 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
Matthew 6:20 - But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
2. Leaving pride and vanity: Another thing that I allowed into my life was pride of how I looked by styling my hair and wearing cologne. I also got involved with fashion clothes and this really concerned my wife as it should have. These things were so vain and worthless and my wife told me they were but I wanted it my way. How selfish I was to do that but I have cut my hair short and no longer wear anything fashionable. The Lord has convicted me of those things and now I dress according to His word by covering my form. I also wanted to mention that I expected my wife to cover her head and wear a long loose dress but I was dressing unscriptural. Men, if you are wearin form fitting pants and a tucked in shirt then why do the women need to cover their forms. This is a sinful practice the men are doing and they should repent and wear loose enough clothing and an untucked long shirt to cover themselves. I have heard a bishop tell me that a brother in the Lord I know looks sloppy because his shirt is untucked. Well this bishop needs to repent because I agree with this man and am practicing biblical dress myself. So, I have a question for this bishop who said a long shirt on a man looks sloppy. Would you tell Jesus or the apostles who wore long robes or John the Baptist who wore a raiment of camels hair that they looked sloppy? May these bishops and other christian men who claim to be holy reconsider their dress and repent. Proverbs 29:23
3. Worldliness and music: Also I was allowing rock music in my life which is worldly and changes ones emotions and causes a prideful attitude to develop. I have repented of this and now I listen to the bible on cd and am staying active on my new blog about the things of God. Also I am learning that instruments have a major influence on a christians life and is really vanity. You might not understand this but if you remember when Moses left the people for a time they were getting into lasciviousness by singing and dancing. I grew up in a sinful lifestyle and dancing leads to drinking that leads to more wickedness. I still have songs pop up in my head from time to time but am learning to cast them down and stay busy in Gods Word. This is another thing I my wife told me I needed to leave. I was not putting my flesh to death but praise God now I am. I am staying focused on the things of God and going forward to serve Christ daily. Proverbs 8:13
4. Knowing Gods Word and leading: Also I was not reading Gods Word enough or studying it as I should. How can a carnal man lead his wife with a lack of Gods instruction? He can't! My wife also pointed this out to me and told me I was supposed to lead and teach her. Was she ever right. Well now the Word of God is my lifeline and with His help I am reading and studying His Word. God is teaching me through my labor on this blog and it is a joy to do His work. God is teaching me to be a leader.
5. Getting rid of bad associations: Ephesians 4:29
With God's help I'm working on improving in all these areas for Gods Glory.
