2 Thessalonians 3:10
“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
Proverbs 6:9
“How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?”
Proverbs 20:4
“The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.”
This is an important topic and one that needs to be covered. God is looking for workers and not sluggards. First of all it takes work to be a christian. What do I mean? Denying your flesh means you have to actively change your ways and seek for oppurtunities to glorify God by witnessing to others and calling them out of man made made religion. Yes, it's physical work. I know people that want to receive money but do not want to work for it. This is the society we live in. I will tell you that I believe in working hard and doing your best. My father was a hard worker and instilled that in my brother and I. I recently worked for a temp agency and the two jobs they had me on would have hired me full time because they liked my work. If you work hard and a company sees that you shouldn't have a hard time finding work. The ones that have a hard time finding work are the ones that have many excuses and do not want to work. This is important for a christian because it is WORK to live for God and you must prove yourself to the Lord and the people who are watching you. We are supposed to have a good testimony and if you are a sluggard, your preaching to others will not mean much to them. We must also stay above reproach.
1 Timothy 3:7
“Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”
Lets hold fast to the work of the ministry.
Ephesians 4:12
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
See, God wants to perfect us and if we choose to be hard workers then we can maintain a good testimony for the Lord.
Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
2 Peter 3:14
“Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.”
Amen! If we work hard for the Lord in the sight of man (this is only our christian duty) then we can be blameless. Staying away from sinful ways and going forward to work in the ministry is what God expects. I know a born again christian brother named Devon who is starting a christian blog and this young man is a worker for the Lord. It is a joy to see what God is doing in the saints lives. The purpose of this article is to encourage the saints to be a hard worker, as this translates into a God honoring ministry. I will leave you with these scriptures for the edifying of Christ and His workers.
1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
2 Timothy 2:15
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
1 Corinthians 3:9
“For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.”
If you are not a born again christian then read this 5 point gospel.
1) Faith... in the finished work of Christ ( fully man, fully God ) and His perfect sacrifice for sins ( John 3:16 )
2) Repentance ... turning from your fallen mind and ways to God's Holy ways. ( Luke 13:3 )
3) Born again... you must be born of God's spirit to ever see eternal life. In this new life, He gives you a new heart and mind to then serve Him. ( John 3 )
4 ) Holiness with obedience.... if your changed by God you WILL, as fruit, strive to leave all sin, worldliness, carnality and false ways ( like man made religion ) and obey His commands and be holy in all your ways. ( 1 Peter 1:15 / Heb 5:9 / Heb 12:14)
5) Endure in your faith.... You MUST keep clinging to Christ via this saving faith to the end of your life, lest you fall away and have believed in vain. ( Matt 10 and 1 Corinthians 15 )
The gospel is not just a religious action. No, it changes your entire life and you NO LONGER live for yourself but live to serve God alone. Jesus said you MUST worship God in spirit and truth. John 4:24
So you must be BORN of His spirit and you must seek Him in truth, not false religious ways of man that MOST today are doing each Sunday in ritual false man made ways.
