When I was in my early twenties I lived my life how I wanted and God brought me to a rock bottom and convicted me. I was losing my job and enjoying my sins for a season until I cried out to God in my apartment and opened the Word for God to show me these two verses that were direct about what was happening to me. God was showing me it was my sins that were keeping me from Him. These verses caused me to weep for a couple of hours and confess my sins to Him. I repented and had true peace within. This is one of many ways God has gotten my attention. I have to say that I fell some time after that and had to repent again. Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. My grandmother and my mother had been praying for me because they knew I was in a dark place in my life. That dark place was in deep sin and God wanted to set me free from the bondage of sin. I had to choose God before He could do a work in me. Praise the Lord for His Word that is able to convict us of our sins. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
This verse is amazing and shows how God's Word can go deep, even to the marrow of your joints. What a blessing that conviction can be this strong as to bring us to repentance. My friend, please allow the Lord to work on your heart and He will always lead you to truth.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
