Proverbs 27:17
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”
I absolutely love this verse! It is so true. When you are serving Christ and have another brother who cares for your soul (which is true biblical love) that man of God will help hold you accountable. That's what were supposed to do with one another as christians. This man of God has helped me to start a blog, as he has had one for over a decade. Bro. Jim is testing me and holding me accountable and I hold him accountable as well. Some people would think this radical but that's because most christians don't practice this because they love their sins. These professing christians do not want to be held accountable.
Galatians 6:1
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”
Notice it said ye which are spiritual, God isn't going to use a hypocrite to do this. If you are a hypocrite then you are under God's judgment. This is what true saints do and I might add, they are happy to do so.
John 13:17
“If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”
1 John 5:3
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
Psalms 119:165
“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
Wow! Isn't this verse plain as day? You mean nothing should offend a born again christian? Of course not because he is seeking the truth and he loves reproof (correction).
Proverbs 9:8
Proverbs 12:1
“Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.”
Proverbs 6:
23
“For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:”
This is scripture my friend and we must obey it. God has made a way for us to overcome our sin.
1 John 5:4
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
Amen!! What an encouraging verse.
So hopefully you are learning the importance of one anothering each other and how it helps build your faith. Isn't this what soldiers do in the midst of a battle.. they are there for one another meaning they have each others backs.
Acts 2:46
“And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,”
Acts 5:42
“And daily in the temple, and in every house,
they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”
Acts 16:5
“And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.”
Luke 9:23
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Romans 8:13
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
Hebrews 3:13
“But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
This is plenty of proof in the scriptures that we are to love correction and love our brothers who are holding us accountable.
1 John 3:14
“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”
Wow! This is as plain as the nose on my face. If you are claiming Christ then you should love reproofs because they are the ways of life. If you hate reproofs then you need to check your salvation because your desires are fleshly.
I will say that when I enjoyed my sins I hated reproofs but God still used them to plant seeds of truth in my mind that later yielded the fruit of God. Yes, all the people that preached to me as I was growing up I thank God for. I knew God was working on me...I just had to answer the call. The religious system I was in helped me very little because it is just a Sunday ritual that doesn't hold anyone accountable. God set me free from that man made system and I praise Him for that. I am serving Christ more than ever even though I'm alone. I thank God for my brother and sister in the Lord for helping me on this journey. (Bro. Jim and Sis. Deb)
