I wanted to talk about something God is teaching me and convicting me about, and that is selfless giving.
Proverbs 20:23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
I have been materialistic and holding on to things I don't need. Not realizing it I have been partial to others when I could have shown christian love by giving to others. God is teaching to me to love and look after others instead of always thinking of myself and what I want. The flesh usually leans toward helping ourselves before helping others. If we walk in the spirit He will teach us to put others first and give when we can whether it's our time, money or things. Today I was convicted and led by God to give something my flesh didn't want to give. While I submitted to God and realized that I need to be fair with a person who was special in my life. I did it out of love for God and to show this person that I care.
I felt a peace that only God could give and even shedded some tears. The joy of giving from your heart to help another person is an act of selfless giving. If I would have not been in line with God I would have probably remained selfish. Learning to not do things for your own gain will be a blessing in any christians life. As a christian this should be a priority because we are to love our neighbor and this is the second commandment. I am learning obedience to God is so important and God will bless it. When we let go of our selfishness we can really focus on Christ and preaching the truth to others.
Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
I am still on an exciting journey to serve God and learn what He wants. Speaking of selfless giving, a young man was sitting near me and I was able to give him the gospel and he was receptive and also knew the Sunday religious system was about serving God on Sunday and living your own way through the week. Even though he agreed it was a trap he was still attending so I encouraged him to get out of that system. We talked about the things of God for about 40 minutes and I had to postpone my blog so I could witness to this young man. Selfless giving is about spending time doing God's work. God gave his only son Jesus to die for us so we could have eternal life. Jesus acted out in selfless giving. May God help anyone reading this in their journey to serve Christ to practice self giving. Praise the Lord for His goodness!!
